I was interested in this project because it seemed like a fun arts and crafts like thing that my husband and kids and I could do with our old water heater while implementing some type of solar power into our home without paying an arm and a leg for PV panels. I was a little surprised how much work goes into stripping down an old water heater, but in the end I’m not sure how the author could have illustrated that better in the book other than stating how many hours of labor may go into each job, which wouldn’t be a bad idea in itself anyway. Otherwise we were more than satisfied with the book, the price and the well thought out, well layed out instructions. Keep the good ideas coming and we’ll keep buying them!

I wanted to decrease my carbon footprint and save some money on electricity and gas costs. I thought the solar hot water heater would be the way to go. I found the book to be very helpful in converting my water heater to solar and looking forward to the savings it will give me in the years to come. I’m always looking for ways to save money and have free alternatives. The instructions couldn’t be more simple, maybe a little too simple. Saved me from paying a lot more for other online kits.
