Was expecting a more mechanical means of transforming the “humanure” into compost but the simplicity of the design makes for no chance of something breaking or going wrong which is a plus. Can’t imagine my husband trying to fix a toilet that’s not working properly with waste in it, that would be a nightmare and I suppose a health hazard, which may be the reason that the author didn’t make it mechanical in the end. I’ll stay with my 4 stars, but it is a very good read to say the least.

My wife was not convinced that this would be the right idea for us, but with a little coaxing and the book, I was able to show her the practical aspects of building a compost toilet. Now she is so into conservation and compost fertilizer, she wants to try more energy-saving ideas. She loves going green, especially the green she saves!

This book is well-written and offers a comprehensive and detailed overview of the requirements for making a suitable compost toilet. I question whether some of these items can be found in the nearby hardware store. However, on the whole it was informative and worth the $4.99. There are many books out there on this subject. This one, though is simple to follow and very thorough. By composting we do assist in saving the planet as well as decreasing our reliance on the power companies and increasing our self-sufficient inter-action with our world. Two thumbs up!
